Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Yeah I'm with you Mikey. Just the way boxing's been sometimes. Maybe with them being on the same card, it can set up an eventual Heavyweight clash between the two (Should they both win, which they should)

Supposedly, they've already agreed to 3 fights in Saudi.  These ones, then each other twice.  But I'll believe it when I see it

Yay more weight divisions, truly the best way for the sport to grow.

I can't remember which alphabet body it was (I think it was the WBC?) but I know one of them has created a "Bridgerweight" class which is basically the same thing. I couldn't tell you who the world "Bridgerweight" champion was to save my life though.

Yes, the WBC created the Bridgerweight division and the WBA calls that same division Super Cruiserweight.

@tepid55

Thanks for clarifying! I thought it was the WBC because I vaguely remember hearing something about Deontay Wilder being offered an opponant for the vacant title at one point but I think he turned it down because he was still chasing that 3rd fight with Tyson Fury at the time. I remember thinking it was all just an excuse by the WBC to try and have Deontay Wilder as one of their champions again and I've never taken the weight class seriously because of it.

Yeah pretty random. I'm sure it's another 1 of those WBA KO Drugs cards that they put on occasionally.
But, can't say I've ever seen a card like this staged in Guinea!

At least according to BoxRec, this is only the 3rd ever professional event in Guinea.  And one of the other 2 was all the way back in 1998

That event got me curious about who the best boxers to come out of Guinea are so I searched for men, all time P4P for boxers from Guinea and apparently Guinea have NEVER produced a professional boxer? Surely that can't be right? I was expecting at least a handful of journeymen or middling fringe contenders for obscure African titles but NONE? If anyone can name a single boxer from Guinea, I'd be interested! Or if you're from Guinea, get yourself booked in for a fight and automatically become the GOAT of boxing in Guinea!

Guinea's only documented boxers have been amateur/olympic boxers.

Wow, that's surprising, thanks for finding that out! I'm kinda surprised the even had an Olympic boxing team. It does raise the question of why boxers from the Guinea Olympic teams have never turned pro though.

Well you have one now.  Just announced for Saturday's card, former 4 time amateur champion of Guinea, Ibrahima Sory Barry, is making his pro debut in a 10 rounder for a regional belt
