Andre Pederneiras Wiki

Now the face of the team that has produced fighters such as Jose Aldo and Renan Barao, as well as many other jiu jitsu black belts, Carlson Gracie black belt Andre Pederneiras also had a short run in mixed martial arts. In 1998, he took part in a bout against fellow submission ace Rumina Sato in Tokyo, winning by knockout. After this win, he challenged then UFC welterweight champion Pat Miletich for the title, losing by doctor stoppage. After back to back draws to Caol Uno and Genki Sudo, Pederneiras permanently retired from MMA, but has continued his focus on the sport by helping develop young fighters at Nova Uniao in Brazil.
